Nasty Women Exhibition is a global art movement that started in the US after their 2016 elections. The name aludes to Trump’s comments - “Such a Nasty Women” - and was own by those who identify as such, since then. This movement is a fundraiser and became a worldwide network for artists and womxn.

Nasty Women Portugal was founded in 2017, and had as a main goal to spark an inclusive conversation about womxn’s and human rights in Portugal. It served as a fundraiser and a showcase for young emerging artists.

With no budget or sponsorships, the portuguese edition welcomed more than 300 visitors annually, gathered artwork from more than 100 artists worldwide, and donated all proceeds to local institutions that support these causes.

My responsibilities ranged from local-branding to content creation (check the privilege series here) and programming. I have also developed the social-media strategy and all PR and media communications. Curation and logistics were also on the list, as well as a lot of wall-hammering. But I called my family for that.

Spread the word:
SAMO© x Nasty Women Portugal

You read it right! Al Diaz, Jean Michel Basquiat’s childhood friend and 1/2 of their street-art duo SAMO©, joined NWPT and donated 2 artworks for an auction.

Talk about flexing, huh? 😏

Nasty Women
x Creative Debuts

Creative Debuts invited Nasty Women Portugal - along with some of its sister-exhibitions - to curate a NW section of
The Anti-Art Fair: a protest show that happened at the same time as the Frieze Art Fair.

Nasty Women Portugal showcased 12 selected artworks from portuguese artists and presented them to the london crowd.

On top of it all, we strolled around in a tank across London, and destroyed the white-washing art world embodied by that citroen.

How cool is that? 😎
